Titleist reveal new DT TruSoft and Velocity balls

Titleist are introducing a new DT TruSoft golf ball. The ball has been designed and manufactured to provide supremely soft feel on every shot with the consistent performance and quality expected of a Titleist.

For golfers who prefer a truly soft feel, the new TruSoft combines distance with short game playability and spin, which can be compromised by other low compression balls. The new DT Trusoft is made at Titleist’s ball plant in New Bedford, Mass and features a new core and cover formulation engineered to deliver incredibly soft compression feel with impressive distance and short game playability.

“DT TruSoft is the latest generation of Titleist’s soft compression core and cover technology. In each of our past three introductions of DT models, we’ve continued to provide golfers with softer and softer feel,” said Michael Mahoney, Director, Titleist Golf Ball Product Management.

“Through our extensive testing with golfers, we know there’s a growing interest for extremely soft feel, yet these golfers still want performance into and around the green. DT TruSoft represents the best combination of very soft feel and all-around performance of distance and playability expected from a Titleist golf ball.”

“DT TruSoft is significantly softer than DT SoLo, which was the softest compression golf ball in our line,” Mahoney said, “and exceeds the performance of other products in this category as many of our competitors sacrifice either short game spin or distance.”

Titleist Velocity

DT TruSoft replaces DT SoLo in the Titleist golf ball family. They’re available now in white and optic yellow, and have an SRP of £20 per dozen.

And thats not all Titleist have also revealed a new Velocity ball too.

The new Velocity is designed with a larger, faster LSX core that produces higher ball speed for more distance. The low spin construction and 328 dimples in a spherically-tiled tetrahedral design deliver a soaring, penetrating ball flight that produces long carry distance with more rollout. A thinner NAZ2 cover combines with the larger core to deliver more playable greenside feel.

“The core is the engine of the golf ball. We’ve made the core of the new Velocity even larger – it’s now 1.575 inches in diameter. A larger core means a thinner cover. That combination gives Velocity great ball speed. Add in Velocity’s aerodynamic package and you have an incredible formula for distance,” says Matt Hogge, Titleist Golf Ball R&D’s Director of Product Implementation. “But this is still a Titleist golf ball – and every golf ball we design is about tee-to-green performance. While Velocity is built for distance in the long game, it also launches high with a steep angle of descent, which helps golfers who don’t generate a lot of short game spin stop the ball close to the pin. The thinner cover also provides a more playable feel. All of these benefits will help golfers feel more confident from tee to green.”

Velocity is available now in single (#1, 2, 3, 4) and double-digit (#00, 22, 77, 99) play numbers, and they’ll set you back £20 a dozen.
