Major champion Jason Day joins Payntr Golf and will launch collaborative shoe collection

Former World No.1 and US PGA Champion Jason Day has joined Payntr Golf and will co-create a new line of golf shoes that marry innovation, performance and classic style.

Day, who also signed a deal with Malbon for his apparel before the new season, has joined North America’s fastest-growing golf footwear brand and wants to create a trailblazing golf footwear collection. The 2015 US PGA champion will blend his style with Payntr’s cutting-edge propulsion technology, award-winning traction, and on-course comfort features to help grow the brand’s reputation for creating some of the best golf shoes.

The collection, dubbed the X1 Proto, is expected to hit stores in fall 2024 with Day testing the model throughout the season. The Australian was seen wearing Payntr’s X 006 RS – one of the best spiked golf shoes – at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour and is expected to stick with that model at this week’s Players Championship – a tournament he won in 2016.

“Over the last several years, Payntr Golf and their footwear have made a name for themselves amongst many professional golfers on Tour,” Day told us.

“When the opportunity to join this team, and their mission to give golfers a true on-course performance advantage, was proposed, it fit perfectly. Their golf footwear expertise and attention to detail is unmatched. But for me, having the unique opportunity to work closely as an owner on a collaborative collection from concept to reveal was key to the full partnership coming together.”

As part of the collaboration, Day will have equity ownership in the brand, which Payntr say showcases his deep commitment to their vision and its success. It’s more than an endorsement deal with the 36-year-old actively involved in the design and development process from inception to execution.

The X1 Proto design process will take place over the next six months and the entire collaborative collection will be the brand’s first foray into developing a silo of golf footwear with a classic design.

“We are thrilled to partner with Jason on this exciting venture,” said Mike Forsey, co-founder and President of Payntr Golf. “His unparalleled expertise and passion for the game will continue to be invaluable in creating a truly innovative golf footwear collection with a new tech classic style to elevate the on-course experience of golfers around the world.”

This announcement comes on the heels of the 2024 PGA Merchandise Show where Payntr Golf introduced the Trainer X 001, a training shoe that utilizes a Carbitex™ GearFlex propulsion plate. This propulsion technology, also incorporated in all Payntr Golf footwear styles, allows the wearer to harness ground reaction forces to leverage the ground for power whether in the gym, on the street, or on the golf course.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in this new partnership. From concept to the prototyping process has been eye-opening,” said Day. “Being able to contribute my insights and preferences to shape Payntr Golf’s next generation of footwear is truly exciting. I believe in our brand’s vision and am honored to be a part of elevating the Payntr Golf product offering.

“We are pushing boundaries and creating footwear that will exceed the expectations of golfers and athletes worldwide. I believe golfers should not have to choose between comfort, performance and style. With Payntr Golf footwear you can have all three.”

Pantyr’s Golf shoes have proved a huge hit since they entered the market in March 2021 with the Payntr X 001 F, this author’s favorite golf shoe of that year, and they’ve continued to create some of the best-performing models ever since, taking spots in our best spikeless and best waterproof golf shoes selections.
