FIRST LOOK: PXG Black Ops drivers

Everything we know about the PXG Black Ops drivers, the brand’s driver family for 2024.

PXG have produced some of the best golf drivers in recent years, and their new model for 2024 has been sighted on the USGA conforming list – PXG Black Ops.

From the information on the USGA website, and what’s visible on the image, it looks as though this will be the seventh generation driver in the PXG 0311 family.

The USGA have judged that three different heads conform to the Rules of Golf. PXG’s driver line-up for next year is likely to include a Black Ops, Black Ops Tour-1, and Black Ops Tour-3.

We believe Black Ops will be the most forgiving, Black Ops Tour-3 will be the least forgiving, and Black-Ops Tour-1 will fall somewhere in the middle.

Soon-to-be-launched clubs begin to appear on the USGA conforming list at this time of year because it makes them legal to be used in competitions. Just this week we saw the TaylorMade Qi10 driver listed and it is in Rory McIlroy’s bag in Dubai, with Cameron Champ using the new Ping G430 Max 10K on the PGA Tour. It might not be long before we see the PXG Black Ops in Celine Boutier or Eric Cole’s golf bags.

PXG Black Ops: What we know

Lofts

Across the three different heads, there are different loft options, so depending on which model will best suit your game, there appear to be multiple lofts to choose from. The Black Ops is conforming in 8°, 9°, 10.5°, and 12°, the Black Ops Tour-1 in 8°, 9°, and 10.5°, and the Black Ops Tour-3 in 8° and 9°.

Weight ports

With every PXG Black Ops head, there should be the option to move weights, in order to manipulate ball flight and shape. There are three weight ports in clear view on the Black Ops driver, and two weight ports visible on the Black Ops Tour-1 and Tour-3. However, it could be the case that the third-weight port is hidden behind the sole.

Color

PXG are known for their dark color schemes, and it doesn’t look like they’re drifting from that anytime soon. We wouldn’t be surprised if dark colorways are the trend for 2024 drivers, especially after seeing the TaylorMade Qi10 and Cobra’s Darkspeed.

Release date

We don’t know an official launch date for the PXG Black Ops drivers. However, based on recent PXG launches it’s likely to be unveiled to the public at the beginning of January with pre-orders opening for February delivery.
