Rugby star stages Celebrity Golf Classic

Rugby hero Mike Tindall will once again be hosting a celebrity golf event this year in aid of Rugby For Heroes.

The England 2003 World Cup winner, now player-coach at Gloucester, will be joined by stars of sport, television and entertainment for the ISPS HANDA Mike Tindall 2nd Annual Celebrity Golf Classic at 2010 Ryder Cup venue Celtic Manor near Newport, South Wales on Monday, May 19.

And Tindall is hoping this year’s event will raise even more cash than the £50,000 generated in 2013 for military charity Rugby For Heroes of which he is patron.

”I am delighted to be hosting a second celebrity golf classic after the success of the inaugural event last year,” said Tindall.

“I am also hugely grateful and delighted to confirm the support of our new title sponsor, ISPS HANDA, and Dr Haruhisa Handa for his commitment to this event for the next three years.

“Dr Handa has done incredible things for the sport of golf and in particular encouraging blind and disabled golf, with his long-term mission to make blind and disabled golf a Paralympic sport.

“With the support of our sponsors, the celebrity golf classic will raise funds again this year for Rugby For Heroes. Most importantly we are using the spirit of golf and sportsmanship to help raise valuable funds to support a very worthy charity which will help our military servicemen and women make the transition from military to civilian life and help those who are injured on the path to recovery.”
