Come and play at Wales’ first indoor mini golf attraction

Treetop Adventure Golf, Wales’ first indoor mini golf attraction, will be officially opening its doors to visitors on Tuesday the 14th of April.

Located in St. David’s shopping centre, players will be able to try out two rainforest themed 18-hole courses across the 15,000 sq ft unit.

Costing £1.5million, Treetop Adventure Golf has created 20 new local jobs and will be led by Welsh general manager Gavin Lewis as the only leisure attraction of its kind in the city.

Designed by leading American mini golf course designers, Castle Golf, the courses consist of many interactive features including singing frogs, a 60ft long mystic river and hidden interactive drop holes where the ball will disappear from view. In addition, more than 550 metres of vines and 5,600 trees and plants have been used to help create a complete rainforest theme.

Co-founder and CEO of Treetop Adventure Golf, Elizabeth Perrin, said: “We are really excited to be opening our first indoor mini golf attraction here in Cardiff, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to come and play.

“We have been planning this project for a long time and we’re very pleased to finally see the dream come to life. It is wonderful to be able to bring such a new and different leisure activity to the very heart of Cardiff.

“We believe Treetop will offer something for everyone. Players are able to just turn up and tee off with no need to book and we can also cater for everything from kids parties and school trips to corporate events, stag dos and birthday celebrations. We’ll have an in-house party planner on hand to organise the perfect event. In addition to the two courses our clubhouse café and bar can cater for up to 80 people where bespoke menus can be created for individual events.”

The Tropical Trail course will give visitors the chance to experience walking through rainforest trees, with the resident Chattering Toucans in the canopy area, followed by the murky swamp which is complete with misting effects.

Those playing the Ancient Explorer will encounter the Sacred Mask and his wise words before putting through grumpy Chief Slumber’s hut.

Both courses will play under two 20ft Towering Trees, where players will putt through hanging leaves and foliage and experience a colour changing river and an indoor thunderstorm.

To help create the overall rainforest theme Treetop Adventure Golf has worked alongside many local businesses including local designers Cardiff Theatrical Services. The company, which was responsible for creating much of the scenery for the Dr Who Experience in Cardiff Bay, has designed and built several themed areas from the tropical Clubhouse café and bar to the furniture and the rainforest shack toilets.

It is also working with several local suppliers to stock its Clubhouse café and bar. Cardiff-based cupcake company, Cup & Cake Bakery, will provide bespoke cakes, Welsh Coffee is supplying the hot drinks and the bar will stock beer from local brewery, Tiny Rebel. The food and drink menus have been designed by local bar consultant, Nathan Sorby, which will include themed cocktails such as the Bamboo Cooler, Coco-Chocolada and Simi’s Simian Sling.

Steven Madeley, centre director at St David’s Cardiff commented: “We’re thrilled to celebrate the opening of Treetop Adventure Golf, as the attraction opens its doors to customers for the first time. Treetop Adventure Golf is a fantastic addition to the shopping and eating offer at St David’s, and provides a fun leisure experience for visitors of all ages to enjoy.”

The course will be open daily from 10am to 11pm and tickets will be priced at £7.50 for adults and £3.75 for children under five to play one course. There will be family tickets available together with Student Putter prices from Monday to Wednesday.

Treetop Adventure Golf is located on level P3 of the St David’s Centre 2, at the John Lewis end of the shopping centre. The attraction can be accessed via the Treetop lift lobbies on the ground floor by Costa, or opposite the Apple store on level one. For those not entering the shopping centre, it is also possible to reach the entrance from level P3 of the St David’s Centre 2 car park.
