Young Masters gets Ping boost

Young Masters Golf – the leading junior golf coaching scheme – has announced an expanded series of tournaments in its Masters programme after securing sponsorship from PING Europe.
Youngsters who have been attending YMG courses throughout the year are already signing up fast for the ‘YMG Masters 2007 in association with PING Europe’, which now has 10 qualifying events nationwide and is an open event for the first time.
YMG managing director, David Gosling, said: “We’re delighted to be working with PING and the sponsorship means we have been able to announce an expanded series, which means even more opportunities for any budding young tour players.”
The 10 open qualifying events in the UK will culminate in a UK national final at PING’s European Headquarters in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
In Ireland, juniors can play at five regional qualifying events in the hope of securing a coveted tee time at YMG’s first Irish nationa final – at the prestigious Luttrellstown Castle Golf and Country Club.
The qualifiers run through mid-July and into August and have been backed by Ryder Cup star Lee Westwood. “As a youngster playing in tournaments was one of the best things about golf,” recalls Westwood. “With these YMG tournaments, juniors get a wonderful introduction to competitive golf.”
Entry for the YMG Masters 2007 in association with PING Europe is through the YMG website www.ymg-golf.com
