Fantasy Golf: DP World Tour Championship preview

The final tournament of the 2013 TG Fantasy Golf game is the DP World Tour Championship on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai.

It’s the culmination of the European Tour season and 56 of the top 60 in the Race to Dubai will be teeing up this week hoping to finish their season on a high and earn a share of the $7.5 million bonus pool.

The par 72 layout can be stretched to 7,675 yards so length off the tee is definitely an advantage. However, there are more than 100 bunkers and water does come into play so wayward shots can be punished.

The greens are large and undulating so finding the right section with approaches is important and a good touch on and around the greens will also come in handy.

Here is TG’s six-man team for the DP World Tour Championship:

Justin Rose, £4.2m
The world number five has a chance to win the Race to Dubai and enters this week in good form. He finished 6th at the PGA Tour Championship, 5th at the HSBC Champions and T3 in Turkey last week. He was runner-up here last year.

Ian Poulter, £3.4m
Poults is fourth in the Race to Dubai and a win here could take him to number one. He’s played all three Final Series events and finished T15-2-T5. He has a pair of top 10s to his name at the Earth Course.

Martin Kaymer, £2.5m
A T25 in Turkey was a little disappointing but continued his recent run of good form. He thrives in the Middle East with 10 top-10s here since January 2008. He has an 11th and 13th at the Earth Course.

Jamie Donaldson, £1.9m
The Welshman’s runner-up finish in Turkey came off the back of two top-10s in his three starts prior to that. He finished 9th here last season.

Bernd Wiesberger, £1.4m
The big-hitting Austrian won in Indonesia earlier this year and is on a run of T4-MC-T23-T12-T3-T17-T7. He finished 42nd last year in his first visit to the Tour Championship.

Ross Fisher, £1.3m
Fisher’s resurgence continued with a T10 last week. It was a fifth top-10 in his last seven starts. His best finish at Jumeirah was a 13th in 2010.
