Korean secures hat-trick of Women’s PGA titles

South Korean Inbee Park has become only the second player to win three straight Women’s PGA Championships, following in the footsteps of Swedish legend Annika Sorenstam.

Park returned to World no. 1 after clinching her third consecutive victory at the Westchester Country Club in New York.

She shot a final round of 68 (-5) to finish -19, handsomely beating compatriot Sei Young Kim by five shots.

It is a sixth major title for Park (26) who overtakes New Zealand’s Lydia Ko at the top of the rankings.

“I’m so thrilled and so honoured to be in this position. I do things that I can’t even believe,” she said.

Americans Lexi Thompson and Brittany Lincicome finished third and fourth respectively.

England’s bright hope Charley Hull finished -2 – one behind Scotland’s Catriona Matthew – but should learn from the experience.
