Who is playing in the 2023 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship?

The DP World Tour returns after the Ryder Cup and three of Team Europe’s victorious stars will be playing in this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
Home hero Bob MacIntyre will play the popular event along with Tommy Fleetwood, who sealed Europe’s winning point in Rome. World No.8 Matt Fitzpatrick, who finally collected his first point and first victory at the third attempt at Marco Simone, is the highest-ranked player in the field. See all the tee times and groups.
The event is now in its 22nd year and sees 168 pros play a standard four-round strokeplay championship along with a team tournament alongside a field of 168 amateur golfers, many of whom are celebrities. It is played across three of the best golf courses in Scotland – The Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie’s Championship, and Kingsbarns. Every player has a round at each of the three courses with the cut being made after Saturday’s third round as opposed to the normal chop at the end of Friday’s second round.
Those who make the cut will then play at The Old Course for a second time on Sunday to see who takes home the individual and team titles.
Alongside the Ryder Cup players, vice captains Nicolas Colsaerts and Thomas Bjorn will go straight from Italy to the field in Scotland. Former Ryder Cup captain and three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington is also in the field, as are Yannik Paul and Adrian Meronk, who both came agonizingly close to playing in Rome. Alex Fitzpatrick and Rasmus Hojgaard – both in Rome to support their brothers and aiming to be on Europe’s team in New York in 2025 – will peg it up.
Defending champion and recent BMW PGA Championship winner Ryan Fox will be looking for another big title and seven-time PGA Tour victor Billy Horschel heads back across the pond to continue his love affair with the DP World Tour.
Victor Perez, Thorbjorn Olesen and Oliver Wilson are the other former winners lookung to lift the title for a second time, with a host of LIV players also heading to Fife. Talor Gooch, Louis Oosthuizen, Hudson Swafford, Peter Uihlein and Dean Burmester all received sponsor invites.
Among the amateur golfers will be LIV chairman and PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan. As reported by The Scotsman, he has been listed under a pseudonym – Andrew Waterman – and will play in the same group as R&A boss Martin Slumbers.

What is the prize money at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship?
There’s a $5m purse on offer in Scotland, which is an increase of $200,000 on the 2022 tournament. The winner will receive $850,000 with the runner-up taking home $550,000. 70 players will make the cut.

Which celebrities are playing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship?
Among the 168 amateurs teeing it up at the Dunhill will be a host of Hollywood stars, world-famous musicians and some of the biggest names from the world of sport.
Welsh actor Catherine Zeta-Jones, who watched husband Michael Douglas play the tournament in 2005, is among the celebrities.
“The atmosphere was fantastic and the galleries were great and really encouraged me,” she said. “Now, to be playing in the Dunhill Links Championship proper is a dream come true. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Fellow Tinsel town stars Kathryn Newton, Andy Garcia, and Matthew Goode will also show off their swings, while former Wales captain Gareth Bale leads a stunning list of sports stars that includes Ruud Gullit, Kevin Pietersen, Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir A P McCoy, Jimmy Anderson, and Stuart Broad.
The world of music will also be well represented, with Ronan Keating, Huey Lewis, Keane’s Tom Chaplin, Linkin Park’s Dave Farell, Genesis’ Mike Rutherford, and Bon Jovi’s Tico Torres all swapping the stage for the course.
And every golf event needs a ‘villain’, and this week will see Piers Morgan take on the role.
How can I get tickets for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship?
For the first three days entry is FREE, tickets are not needed. Only tickets for the final day, Sunday, October 8, on the Old Course, need to be purchased. There will be no ticket sales on the gate, but tickets can be purchased in advance here.
