This Midlands gem had been slipping down the list, but extensive work prior to 2008 saw it rise again. Seven new tees were built while the 17th green was relocated and is now surrounded on three sides by water. Vardon laid out the original in 1908, but Colt was called in to make it a little less exacting for the members. You can’t believe you are just seven miles from Birmingham at arguably England’s top parkland layout.
