LIV Golf Series: Who is playing in Portland?

LIV Golf have revealed the players for their second event, with Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed, Pat Perez, Abraham Ancer, and Matt Wolff among those making their debuts in the rebel series in Portland.

Once again, 48 players will compete across the three-round no-cut tournament, with a $20m dollar purse on offer at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.

The event gets underway on Thursday, June 30, and will use a shotgun start across all three days. Alongside the individual event, which will see the winner walk away with $4m, the team event format will continue, with the 12 teams of four competing for a $5m dollar bonus fund, which is split between the top three.

Brooks Koepka is a four-time Major champion.

The field has changed significantly from LIV Golf’s inaugural event at London’s Centurion Club earlier this month, which saw South Africans Charl Schwartzel, Hennie du Plessis, and Branden Grace take the podium places. Four-time Major champion and former World No.1 Koepka, former US Open champion DeChambeau, Masters champion Reed, fan favourite Perez, PGA Tour winners Ancer, Wolff and Carlos Ortiz, and the world’s No.2-ranked amateur Eugenio Chacarra will all play in Portland and have made long-term commitments to the Saudi-backed Series. Japan’s Yuki Inamori will also make his debut.

Of the players who played in London, Oliver Bekker, Ratchanon “TK” Chantananuwa, Oliver Fisher, Pablo Larrazabal, Andy Ogletree, David Puig, JC Ritchie, and Kevin Yuan, miss out on the Portland event.

Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau look set to join LIV Golf.

“Coming off our successful launch in London, we take another leap forward with our strengthened field for Portland,” said Greg Norman, CEO and Commissioner of LIV Golf.

“Record-setting champions, global ambassadors and rising stars are showing that players are eager to get involved with our innovative model that stresses camaraderie, competition, and above all, fun, that drives a new and entertaining product for today’s golf fans.

“The response after one event has been overwhelming. Free agency has officially come to golf. I’m proud of this field and our entire team that is committed to creating a new and exciting future for this sport.”
