Srixon reveal new Game Improvement Irons

Srixon isn’t a name you instantly associate with Game Improvement Golf Clubs. Yes we see Graeme McDowell, Keegan Bradley and countless other Tour Players striding the fairways at the worlds top events using Srixon equipment but now they want to turn their focus seriously onto improving the club golfers game!

How are they going to do it? Well through a whole new Z-355 range designed specifically for the club golfer. Srixon have cleverly adopted “Action Mass” technology which runs throughout the range and has the capability to generate more kinetic energy at impact.  It basically means the club head is heavier than normal but the shaft is lighter so swing the club at the same speed as you usually do and the club is travelling faster when you hit the ball, and you’ve guessed it more speed equals more distance.

Intrigued? Want to know more? Well here’s the story.

Z-355 Iron

Tour VT sole

Srixon have a history of sculpting the soles of their irons to improve turf interaction depending on the player the iron is aimed at. The 355’s Tour V.T Sole has less trailing edge bounce, meaning 43% less time interacting with the turf at impact which limits loss of club speed and can improve dispersion accuracy. Srixon’s engineers haven’t stopped there they’ve also increased the leading edge bounce making the iron less likely to “dig” at impact which amazingly can reduce head speed loss by up to 24%.

Max COR Faces

When your looking to design a set of irons to max out a game improvement golfers performance you have to dig deep into the engineering tool box. Srixon have done just that with the 4-7 Irons, where they’ve used a super high spring steel face similar to that in a “Speed Channel” fairway or hybrid. This improves ball speed on the mid-long irons which is the area most likely to hurt club golfers. The short irons where the premium is much more on accuracy the 355’s revert to traditional one piece cast heads.

Action Mass Technology

The idea of heavier club heads but lighter overall weights is as relevant in your irons as it is your driver. The higher balance point shaft runs through the set allowing engineers to play their balancing tricks and create more club head momentum at impact.

Premium Shafts

You don’t have to play graphite shafts to get the benefit of all this technology that Srixon has worked so hard to create. If you’re a steel shaft advocate then the Nippon NS Pro 950 DST steel shaft is a premium steel offering and will do a similar job to the Miyazaki Jinsoku.

Larger Head – Higher MOI

The 355’s have a larger head than Srixon’s forged offering’s, which is a real benefit to the club golfer. That said the offset is not maasive like somegame improvement irons so they have a real attractive look to them. Because the head is larger and less weight is wasted supporting the “MAX COR Faces“ this naturally leads to an increase in MOI.

Z-155 Iron – Super game improvement Iron

If you’ve read all of this and thought it sounds good but my game is much more super game improvement, then Srixon have thought of you too. The new Z -155’s benefit from the same technology as the 355’s they are just a bit bigger and have more offset to help you flight the ball well and be ultra forgiving.

Expect to find the Z-355’s and Z-155’s in good golf stores from mid September.
