Odyssey’s new O-Works putters

Odyssey has added to its impressive list of face inserts on the new line of Odyssey Works putters. The family comes in standard and Versa versions in multiple tour-inspired, familiar head shapes as well as Tank models. SuperStroke putting grips are also available as a stock option on the new O-Works line for 2015.

The Odyssey Works Fusion RX insert is essentially a White Hot insert with a thin piece of stainless steel (0.406mm thick) on top featuring Odyssey’s Metal-X pattern. This combination means you get the feel of a White Hot insert with increased friction to enhance roll. In fact, Odyssey say the Fusion RX insert achieves ‘True Roll’ (the point at which the ball is constantly in contact with the ground rolling end over end) much earlier in its journey thanks to a reduction in jumping and skidding post impact.

O-Works putters

“Odyssey Works exists so that we can bring multiple technologies in one line to the market,” Chris Koske, Global Director for Product Strategy, Odyssey, exclusively told TG.

“The key technology is the new Fusion RX insert. The goal was to maintain the feel of the original White Hot, but bring in our Metal X Roll technology to it. It comprises an incredibly thin layer of stainless steel, about the thickness of three sheets of paper, that puts a better roll on the ball without compromising feel.”

O-Works Versa V line

The O-Works line is spearheaded by the new Versa 2-ball Fang model. It has a 42 per cent higher MOI than the previous 2-ball, offering more stability on off-centre hits. Ball speed is higher on strikes from the heel, but especially in the toe, where 99.7 per cent of ball speed is maintained. The overall head weight has reduced from 360g to just over 335g. This has been achieved through the use of a 12g piece of black thermo plastic on top that would weigh 75g if it was made of steel. This places more weight lower in the head, moving the CG down by 20 per cent under the ball to increase the gear effect at impact and improve roll. It also comes in a Tank version weighing 380g.

The O-Works models come in both standard and Versa models in multiple, Tour inspired headshapes with two stock grips, including the popular SuperStroke for an upcharge. The major-winning Versa alignment system has a new look now featuring silver and black contrast to highlight proper face alignment.
